However, a new report says, consuming whole grain’ refined substitutions can really help in lowering the fat tissue. Not only this, it would also add up in curing some severe health issues.
The reports have been published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Researches conducted in the past had concluded that fat around viscera, especially around abdominal organs can leave a person suffering from severe metabolic diseases, such as diabetes and heart-related diseases.
A research was conducted over the eating habits of 2800 people, aging from 32-83 years. The purpose of the research was to determine whether the eating whole or refined grains beings down the process of tissue development.
The participants of the research were asked to go under multidetector-computed tomography (MDCT) scans, which calculated the the team measure visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) volumes.
Researchers observed that whole grain consumption affected the VAT to a great extent as compared to eating refined grains. This also reduced metabolic disorders.
Lead author of the study, Nicola McKeown said substitutions in eating habits are necessary to lead a healthier life.
